Which PCB Fabrication / Manufacturer do you use?

cstanton
cstanton over 3 years ago

There are a lot of different vendors out there that you can send your design to, but who do you use? I have no idea.

I'm interested in your opinions, good, bad, or ugly, and your experiences with them?

Was the cost affordable?

How was the quality?

Did you change from one manufacturer to another for any reason?

Did they give you any feedback on your design?

How fast did they provide them?

Any opinions are valid, I'm personally interested, and also we want to improve our PCB Prototyping content on the site regardless of who people currently utilise.

My go-to on regular basis is Aisler.
    A few reasons for that:
I need pcbs for professional use, since Iḿ based in the EU its alot more convenient for taxes and Bookkeeping to have a EU based manufacturer (they also have a seat in USA btw.)
I mostly need just 3 pcbs (one to make one to break and one for the records), but i need them consistently in quality and without any import hassle.
I've been an early adopter since I happen to know the founders personally, pricing has become much more competitive in the last few years.
For my typical use cases I'd pay the same at Aisler than I would at Pcbway/jlcpcb and alike) but without shipping and import hassle/taxes.
    (I mostly use 2-4layer ENIG)

I've tried Pcbway, jlc, and a few other chineses ones, as well as eurocircuits and mutliCB in europe, and oshpark. They were mostly Fine in quality.
But I had shipping troubles a few times, invoicing is incompliant at a few places, so for convenience and reliabilty I circle back to Aisler again and again.

Only exceptions are if a client requests a specific color or thickness -> that leaves me only the choice of another vendor, in the past mostly jlcpcb, but I avoid them now because of data breach claims on twitter.
I also don't send any IP critical Designs out of the EU, for obvious reasons. In such cases I simply price in any additional costs.

Oh yes I forgot about the option for just 3 boards with Aisler. Personally I quite like 4 (not seen but wish it were possible) or 5 (more common)... as I tend to make more mistakes Grinning

I had different versions of the same prototype fabricated some months back by Aisler and by OSHPark. Very similar in quality... hopefully my camera does these pcbs justice.

I uploaded 4-layer GaN PCB gerbers to Aisler. They charge 23 € for 3 boards, including shipping to Belgium. That's competitive.
