    Lol!

    This was my latest soldering challenge, 'balling' a 2mm square BMP581 pressure sensor. The space to add the component was too tight to use a stencil (never mind the alignment issues) so I opted to manually 'ball' the device. I fluxed the pads, and with the end of a fine sewing needle picked up each 0.3mm solder ball and placed it on a pad, building up the complete compliment of 10 balls, Then put it in my 'toaster' reflow oven to melt the solder onto the pads. Next place the BMP581 "solder down" on clean printer paper and slide it back and forth to wear 'flats' on the balls until all are the same height. Finally flux and reflow onto the pcb.

    Did several like this and it worked every time.

    I learned the 'levelling' technique from re-balling BGA's for which you definitely need to make sure all the balls are touching the pcb!
    LGA? Maybe they share to same part number:
