KiCAD always crashes

FWissman

I’m trying to move from Eagle 9.6.2 to KiCAD 7.0.11 on my MACBook Pro (mid 2012), with Intel Core i7, running Catalina 10.15.7. I installed KiCAD using MacPorts and that seemed to work although it took hours. The terminal log doesn’t show any errors, exceptions, or failures.

I can only get this far: I have a folder with name.sch, name.brd, name.kicad_pro, and when I tried the PCB editor, ~name.brd.lck was made.

Everytime I try to either edit the schematic or PCB, KiCAD crashes as soon as I lift the button on my mouse.

I’m open for ideas. I am hoping I don’t need a new computer once I found MacPorts.

Thanks!
