Anyone had their delivery date slip ?

chickey
chickey over 14 years ago

Just got a follow up email from Farnell and i was initially down for the WC 26/3/2012 but now it's slipped until the 23/04/2012

Bit disapointed as since i'd have thought they shouldn't need 2 months even if it's being manufactured from scratch for my order.

I ordered mine at 4.30pm yesterday after eventually getting in (I managed to bypass the 'register interest' link which had gone up somehow) - my date was set at 23rd April

I just placed my order today from newark and it's expected to ship April 3rd. Did any of your dates change again? I don't see why mine would be before any of yours.

I guess you will have to consider yourself lucky depending on where you are in the distribution chain for Farnell/Newark and RS.  As I noted before, my shipping date is 10 May and I ordered around 10AM on 29 Feb.  I should receive it before the previous poster that ordered on 1 March, however it seems I will get it 5 weeks later.

It seems that the distributors are going to get the R-Pi's from China sent to the UK.  If you live in/near the UK, you'll get them shortly afterwards.  If you live in the US, you'll need to wait for them to be re-shipped from the UK to the US with the appropriate delays for loading/unloading/customs.  If you live in a 3rd-world country like Canada, you'll need to wait until they are re-shipped to Canada with the appropriate delays for loading/unloading/customs.

I've seen that US customers have complained that they were going to be charged $20 for direct shipping by Royal Mail from the UK to the US.  Right now this would be a bargain for Canadians who would get their R-Pi's weeks earlier and probably a lot cheaper as UPS from the US charge Canadians about $10 to collect our federal VAT.

Someone has taken a leaf out of Sir Clive Sinclair's Book "How to Mismanage Your Customers Expectations!"

It's the 1980s all over again!

Sinclair couldn't manage it, Oric had their problems too.  No wonder the UK is heading down the tubes rapidly.
