And the kicker is... Farnell doesen't even have any so I have to wait three weeks-ish, but i do get "FREE" delivery!

No, i'm not a penny pinching whinger, and I do think you (might, at some point) get a lot of hardware for a little

money. Just wondering why the media reports for pricing are so misleading?

There was a note on the Raspberry Pi twitter feed clarifying this - that price includes shipping, hence there won't be an additional shipping charge on it plus it's why it may differ from the RS price.

I'm fine with £31, they have to pay to pack and ship the items, then there's VAT on it.

The base price in India is 2350 INR ie 48 USD. After adding local shipping and taxes it comes to Rs 2700 ie 54 USD!

You are lucky they took your order. In Germany, in good old Farnell Germany tradition, you can't placed an order unless you are a business. Individuals aren't wanted, and don't get an account. No account, no way to place an order online.

All this "register an interest" stuff is nice and dandy. But as long as only businesses can open an account, how is one supposed to actually place an order for a Raspberry Pi, once there are more available?

I mean, the point is, I am only willing to go to a certain length to convince someone to take my money and sell me something. I am not really in the mood to beg Farnell Germany to make an exception to their long-standing "business only" policy. Because, as a customer I should not have to beg at all.

As stated by Tom Mann, £30-ish is a good price for a small pc like this that can go on the internet and play 1080p video!

You think £31 is high. Check out ebay and the user 'Consolez4less' , he is offering a Buy it Now price of £79.99 with a whopping £35.99 for 3 year warranty!
Persons like that on ebay should be shut down! the whole point of the Raspberry Pi is for an extremely low cost computer for educational means. I just wish the foundation would give more precise updates as to the current situation re deliveries!

I know they are probably in a difficult position, but before the launch there was quite a bit of information coming out of the foundation which was great, but as soon as it was launched there has been a lot of silence, although the Blog is back up now.

If there was some clear indication of order numbers, outstanding orders and when the next bulk delivery will be made then I think it would go a long way to stopping the sort of eBay hi-jinks mentioned. I think I'll be going for this case though.
