Do any production RPi's actually exist?

RPi Trustee PeteL claims to have been "lucky" to have had  the "honour" of booting an RPi fresh from the UK in a "heart stopping" demonstration at the launch event in Nuremberg.

Was this a production RPi?

All the videos we have seen show aplpha or beta boards, not production boards. Mr Ripoff on Ebay also does not have a Pi. RS and Farnell also do not have any Pis. They are on the high seas somewhere between China and here. I'm not sure how many different ways it is possible to tell people that. When they do arrive it will be obvious because the companies will say so. RPF will say so and thousands of recipients will say so. One Guardian journalist with a beta board is not 10,000 production boards arriving at Tilbury docks.

I've never caught one listed on ebay, the clear case design is interesting but he states this

"Need to know some steps to adjust the template model."

    maybe it doesn't fit.

Bob, I'm pretty certain there are not 10000 RPi's on the high seas somewhere.  Before the 10000 RPi's start getting built, the foundation has to approve the test samples, and I believe it is the test samples that the foundation was waiting for on launch day.  The test samples couldn't be made until all the parts were available, and that took until mid February or so.  Apparently Farnell, RS, and Broadcom also want to approve the factory working conditions before starting the initial 10000 unit production run.

As I said in another post, the Swedish distributor https://www.microkit.se/

says that there is stock at Farnell. "På huvudlager" means the quantity in stock at Farnell, which at the moment is 93 with a delivery time of 2-3 days.

The total price delivered to my door works out at approximately £36.50 including VAT. I haven't ordered this one as I already have one on order with cables. The cables are causing the delay for me but I can wait.

At this point, if it's in stock, it's not Raspberry Pi,

and if it's Raspberry Pi, it's not in stock. image

This sounds familiar to me. An old company I used to work for expected deliveries from china and started to charge people for the goods even before they were in the uk.

Ps just had an email from RS.

I think it gets more and more obvious they had nothing when they did the launch. It sounds pretty much there was nothing in a Farnell or RS warehouse, nothing on a boat from China. A bunch of broken boards with the wrong Ethernet jack in some factory in China, if any. What a charade.
