I just found this: http://au.element14.com/raspberry-pi/raspbrry-modb-512m/sbc-raspberry-pi-model-b-512mb/dp/2191863
Is this a raspberry pi with 512Mb RAM or is this a joke.

Depends what you consider the mistake to be, announcing a product you
don't have, or not having a product you're announcing.
In any case, I don't think the wait will be too much longer.
Defenantly agree
Good Morning,
I ordered a Pi on Friday last (31/8). I noticed this morning that there is now 512 mB model, so I rang the 1300 no and spoke to a VERY helpful lady called Siri.
She confirmed stock availability and as my order had not yet been processed she changed it for the new one.
I paid the difference between the original invoice cost and the new price (ca $3.50).
It now 11.40 am and she promised a Pi to my hands by close of trading today!!
I have also checked out the prices for peripherals at Jaycar: HDMI to DVI cable is $25 as is the wireless dongle, So it is better to shop at element14.
BTW I have a new apple iphone charfer which is rated at 1 A 5V; guess this will work with the pi when it arrives. Now looking for powered USB for it.
Hope this helps,
Larry North
But the product does not exist. Something is wrong here. How could you buy a 512mb MOD B when it does not exist?
Please confirm that this is the 512mb model. I think something has gone wrong here.

Can you show us this RPi when it arrives later today. We need to confirm if there is a 512mb model in the wild.

Hi
I just wanted to update all of our forum members who have joined the discussion on the 512MB Raspberry Pi today.
As you know there has always been talk of increasing the RAM size on the Model B and we had this part created (but hidden) on our system a little while ago as part of the initial product roadmap. I must stress that the part should have remained inactive but a flag was removed in error from the part last Friday which caused the part to be visible, in error, on our web site in a number of countries globally today.
The part is now removed from most of our sites and will be finally removed from all sites by around 10.30 UK time this evening and in the meantime the part has been made “un-orderable” on the sites where it is still visible (i.e. our UK site).
I apologise for any confusion this error has caused

Can I just mention another little problem on E14 site.
There is two Model B product pages that are identical.
http://au.element14.com/raspberry-pi/raspbrry-pcba/sbc-raspberry-pi-model-b/dp/2081185
http://au.element14.com/raspberry-pi/raspbrry-pcba/sbc-raspberry-pi-model-b/dp/208118501
This could cause further confusion.
Happy to..now you have me bemused.

That is not the 512mb model...that is a 256mb model.
What you said before:
[q] so I rang the 1300 no and spoke to a VERY helpful lady called Siri.

Did you get a confirmation email? Your case sounds a bit strange.
Hello,
Well it arrived and then I recieved a rather apologetic phone ecall from the young lady.....it would appear that the page advertising 512 mB was ''a mistake' (her words).
Look, I am more than happy with the pi, they did not charge for the extra 256 mB and i have it up and running.
I am about to set a static ip and set it up for ssh the who knows!
However, I would like to get a wireless nic if anyone has any ideas. The netgear one I have does not seem to work (yet?)
BTW, i easily solved my power and usb problems. I have an old Dell led 19 inch monitor which has 4 powered usb ports. I ahve one for the pi power, one for a keyboard and one for a mouse. Works a treat.
I have seen similar monitors for ca $30 in op-shops.
Gosh, this is fun!

On the wireless front:
I use a Edimax nano card that I bought from Jaycar. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=YN8309
As you said before, you live in sydney...be careful. I think that Jaycar are just changing over to a different no-name one. FYI: The Gore Hill store has already done this and has none of the above in stock. Do some calling around and see if you can find one.
This particular model has a self-installer script that someone on the RPi.org forum has posted. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=6256
Really easy to install (if you have a one-off ethernet connection).
Hope this helps.
