Because I know it's something I'm doing wrong.
I saw the Adafruit video of the Motorola Atrix lapdock being used with the RPi and I thought "gotta do that". So I made the cable and for the first time powered up my Christmas RPi and it worked perfectly. I had downloaded the Wheezy (2012-10-28) image off the RPi Foundation site and burned an SD card and it all worked bloody perfect. Then I installed the Wi-Pi and ground to a halt as I tried to figure out why the WiPi refused to work. I followed the PDF instructions on the Element14 site and modified the 'interfaces' file and checked it a bunch of times but no go. The indicator light on the WiPi is not on and although it appears the OS is sensing the dongle it does not appear to be able to connect to the access point.
Here's what I appended in the interfaces file;

The router is looking for 802.11g using WPA. It can output 'n' as well but my old Mac Mini gets extra stupid when 'n' packets are mixed into the stream.
this is a snippet of the bootup syslog which (I think) shows that the RPi is seeing the WiPi however later when it tries to do a DHCP it fails out completly.
I also measured the voltage between TP1 and TP2 and it showed 4.80v with the WiPi in and 4.85v with it out. The lapdock certainly appears to be delivering solid power to the RPi with the added benefit of battery backup power for 'free'.
I'm kinda stumped and I don't know where to go If anybody has got any ideas I would be extremely gratefull.
