I'm new here, new to raspberry too
my teacher gave me one to test it and do some uart interfacing 
well, my problem is that i have no original power supply so i decided to adapt a charger
i found one with 5V-1000mA (with coaxial plug from a very old phone charger)
i found a female USB connector and i made a 5V-1000mA USB charger
i works but i think i have a little problem
when i connect a mouse and a keyboard to the pi they do not work, the mouse lights but no keyboard
when i connect only keyboard it works, sometimes they both get working but with interrupts!!!!
NOTE that i have already tested this Pi with another keyboard and mouse and also a wifi dongle and a hub!!!BUT with a specific usb power!!!!!
ANOTHER PROBLEM :
when i only use the keyboard in the case of the non original charger i can login BUT i can't navigate the GUI with keyboard shortcuts, i opened the task manager with alt+ctrl+del and i navigated it with the TAB key
BUT the tab key does not work on the desktop!!!!!
Any HELP???
