How do you organize your SD cards?

rsc
rsc 8 months ago

I have many raspberry pi projects, and they use version 3B, 3B+, 4, 5 hardware, and when I'm developing, I may have several versions of firmware loaded on SD cards.  I sometimes loose track of what version of software is on a card.  How do you organize your SD cards and tell what development software is installed on each one without having to load it up and look for markers in the files?  If I have a label maker available, I add tags on top.

Curious, what's the difference between Sharpie and Milwaukee? Is there some magic in the sharpie that eats through the paper, the glue and the plastic to vaporize my data? (Or is this another leftover urban legend from CD days?)

Better ink I guess. Doesn't smell the same.

I may have to try the Milwaukee Marking Pen.  The Sharpie keeps rubbing off of my pill case. Joy

I’ve been burnt by that - the sharpie pens do not use the same permanent marker ink! There’s super fine sharpie permanent markers though.

It’s like when you buy mayo and get home to find out you got the “light” version! Grimacing
