Meet Lawny!

It’s a lawn mower with a first-person view camera that allows you to cut grass while controlling a remote-controlled robot!

I’ve built it using a Raspberry PI, H-Bridge, electric motor, and camera. It can be controlled from a mobile phone or a desktop.

The project's main idea is to control a lawnmower using a phone and see the exact same picture as a lawnmower.

Here is the full video of its creation and all the concepts that are described in this article:

Good point. And I made manual adjustments of the cutter height. You can see the idea in the video:

    In a nutshell:

It can be automated, but it requires adding a counter of rotations (something with magnets) and a few more electro motors for vertical movements.

For now it seems like overkill, since I am not planning to sell it to the public.

Some control of cutting height would be useful, especially when cutting an overgrown lawn for the first time.

This could be a manual adjustment as like with a push lawn mower you probably would only set it once before cutting, then lower it on subsequent cuts until you reach the desired height over several cuts throughout the growing season. It's not good for the grass to cut off too much in one go and you will likely end up with a yellow lawn for a while if you do.

However, it could be automated and could use feedback to automatically increase the cut height if the motor rotation slows below a set threshold.

I guess that was him starring in "It's Only Money". Clip of the lawn mower scene here:

    Very entertaining.

I remember seeing the first robot lawn mowers in an old Jerry Lewis movie as a kid.
