Raspberry Pi Project What do I do next? Help me decide what I should make next please!?

With the shortage soon to be a thing of the past. (knocks on wood)  We hope with the news that Eben stated in a few interviews. This is great but looks like Raspberry Pi 3's are going to be some of the first back in the 3rd quarter available to us then in the next quarter we should be seeing the Pi 4s making their way back.

Not to brag or show off but I have quite a few pi's left from my older projects and projects that I have since scrapped and moved on to something else.

But with all the things pi I want your input to help me on my next build Idea.

having built so many pi projects over the years, even this blog post is being written on my Raspberry Pi Desktop which most would have already known as I do use it as my daily computer if you haven't check out some of my blog posts on it on the community.

make sure that you like the person's idea you like the most as well.  This will let me know which project that you all want to see happen which 100% up to you the community.

things I am looking for are.

1.What model Raspberry Pi should I use?

2.What should I make with it?

3.Why do you want me to make it?

So what pi's are an option:

Pico, Pi Zero,  Pi Zero 2W,  Pi 2, pi 3, pi 3b+, pi 4 2, 4 and 8gb models.

From video game setups, servers, irrigation, time lapse, opencv, nas server, wifi hot spots, photo capture,  motor control,  custom mods and more think outside the pi. even custom hats

open your imagination and lets make something amazing!.

A fully functional/adjustable camera with buttons to control functions and a display - would be very interesting.

I was wondering how long it would be before colours were mentioned. Used to always be red vs blue over here but then one day there appeared to be an explosion in a paint factory somewhere...

Not sure if this happens elsewhere but the have annual 'tractor runs' over here in the nearby village where they get to terrorise the unsuspecting motorist for a few hours on the narrow lanes. ( I recall one year a car towing a caravan managed to get caught up right in the middle of it - they are probably still in therapy... )

    >I thought it would likely struggle on the power supply front

Maybe an older garden tractor or mobility scooter platform could be used as a starting point. I've seen them come up very cheap once in a while.

Or get a really good sponsor to buy a battery operated garden tractor lawn mower thing :D

But you may be right on the power part - if the leveller only needs to worry about level, then it could be towed by any garden tractor or person. I've seen construction type spinning lasers that work during sunlight. They sit spinning in the middle, and the "stick" has sensors that tell you whether you have to move up or down.

    >we talking JD or IH tractor?

    Laughing

Well, since you asked.. I've always kind of preferred the JD green/yellow colour scheme (NOT their orangy-yellow backhoe colours. boo!), but they are failing big time on the right-to-repair situation right now, so I'd hate to support them now.

Maybe like a random-no-name type garden tractor with pretty colours Smiley

I have thought of doing it as an autonomous tracked robot but I thought it would likely struggle on the power supply front, so stuck with the idea of the hand tool approach augmented with the automatic levelling, as I thought a cordless power tool battery might have sufficient power to drive the levelling linkage for a few hours at a time, leaving the human to provide power to push and pull the rake to move the soil around.

Just having the level indicator incorporated into a hand tool would be a start. Although part of the challenge there might be to get it visible in full daylight without constantly having to readjust it. LEDs may not be the best solution - some sort of high contrast reflective display may be better.

I've seen some radio controlled construction model conventions working a miniature building site, bulldozing, grading, and trucking soil, so given long enough it is possible to have similar to work a small garden or allotment. But then I saw the price tag of some of those models.
