Need Some RoadTest Applicants for the Data Acquisition Board for the Raspberry Pi

I'm running a roadtest on a data acquisition HAT (i.e., shield or expansion board) that is used with the Raspberry Pi. It comes with the HAT, a Pi, cables and a high-end accelerometer for vibration testing.

I thought it was a cool device when the sponsor showed it to me. It is a rather inexpensive way to do data logging. Here's the roadtest page for the current running roadtest: Sound and Vibration Measurement HAT for the Raspberry Pi.

I am providing just the accelerometer for this roadtest. But you could hook up a microphone, as well.

This is what the roadtester gets:

Past Pi Data Logging Roadtests...

We have in the past run roadtests using the Raspberry Pi in a data logging application. Those were done with a company called Pico Technology. Here's a link to that roadtest

This system is a bit more expensive and uses thermocouples instead of an high-end accelerometer.

What's Unique About the Sound and Vibration Measurement HAT for the Raspberry Pi.

Good question. Well, it uses a high-end IEPE (integrated electronics piezo-electric) sensor. It features a 24-bit A/D per channel and a maximum sample rate of 51.2 kS/s/ch. Up to eight MCC HATs can be stacked onto one Raspberry Pi. All DAQ HATs include C/C++® and PythonTm examples and open-source library. Comprehensive API and hardware documentation are also provided.

This product is being put out by Digilent through a company called Measurement Computing Corporation (MCC) DAQ and data logging products. MCC is a leading supplier of data acquisition solutions that are easy-to-use, easy-to-integrate, and easy-to-support. for more info go here

I'd encourage you to apply for the Sound and Vibration Measurement HAT for the Raspberry Pi ROADTEST

I know a lot what is going on here on element14. But this one is an interesting one and I didn't want anyone who seeks to learn more about data logging to miss it.

You can apply here. Just click the orange ENROLL NOW button.

Thanks.

One year ago there was a design challenge were we got a single piezo-accelerometer and an STM32 board. That kit had not integration at all, in contrast to this one, which also includes 2 sensors instead of 1. I had a great time participating in that challenge and did some motor vibration analysis (/challenges-projects/design-challenges/experimenting-with-vibration-sensors/b/blog/posts/motor-vibration-analysis). All these analyses were done with just a single sensor, but there is much more that can be done with more sensors and a kit like this one. Data acquisition, sensing and analysis is fun, and this roadtest is a great opportunity to learn more about it.

I've submitted an application. I think this is an interesting kit with opportunity to get new expertise.
There's physical things to learn related to vibration and resonance - and having a DAQ to experiment with is great. Time to grow the data acquisition and analysis skills.
