Possible improvement in Element14 website

Hi All,

As a community member, I felt it wise to contribute in making the element14 site better than it already is.

I was trying to edit a review draft, and it took me 15 minutes to figure our where is the edit button.

Please look at the attached screenshot. The edit link is sort of hidden among all other information.

I feel, it's wise to allocate prime real estate to the most important things in context of the respective web pages.

I hope my observation makes sense.

    You're right it is a little hidden, although it's easy to remember once you've seen and used it. For suggestions like this, "Feedback & Support" instead of "RoadTest & Reviews" might get it viewed by the right people.

     

    By the way, as a tip (might not suit all since everyone works differently), another way is to type your content locally (e.g. in MS Word or something else), add your photos in there and edit it as much as you like and save it locally. Once you're happy, copy-paste it all into Notepad to strip off all the photos and formatting, and then copy-paste from Notepad into the element14 editor. Now use the element14 editor tools for your titles etc, and using your Word document as a reference, insert your photos into the correct locations.

     

    It might seem like extra unnecessary effort! For me, I feel it reduces work overall. One downside is there is no backup if you lose your local file (e.g. hard drive crash), so if you use this method, some other backup method should be used, such as storing on OneDrive.

  • Unfortunately this occurred to me as well. I was writing my first roadtest review on RaspberryPi 3A+ and I couldn't find the button to start writing the review! So I was forced to write the review as a blog post and then later when I figured out how to add the content in the review page I just copy pasted it. It also once triggered partially edited content (draft state) straight into post.

     

    I agree with that once you figure out how to do it right, It's just easy as any other blogging page.

     

    Writing your draft on a notepad (I use vim image) is actually a great idea. Please try next time and let us know how it improved your experience.

  • There is also a issue to write a Equation . There are limited Greek Letters .

    You're better off authoring the text elsewhere (e.g. Microsoft Word) and copy/pasting it in, then uploading the images. My experience is that the browser editor slows down significantly for longer postings and can have strange discrepancies (e.g. line breaks appear in editing but not in the published version). If you do it that way, you should be able to have any Unicode character you want ... Just my advice.

    Also, as well as Gough's excellent tips, it's possible to use .png files for equations, so that could be a workaround.
