System designers need power supplies to handle the various power needs of today’s FPGAs, media processors, ASICs, SOCs, and ASSPs; an advanced FPGA, for example, can require three or four supply voltages.
A new type of power subsystem—the field-programmable power subsystem-- squarely addresses this issue by providing a flexible approach at a cost that is comparable with conventional switching power solutions.
