Recently I have purchased a hawkboard, and like I have said in another post a will make a review on this board. I have bought this board from innovative solutions website and paid $94 plus near $100 for shipping and customs fees (to Portugal) and took 1,5 months to receive it.
Gregory M. Brettell have already start a review of this board some time ago (http://www.element-14.com/community/docs/DOC-23449#cf), on which it is very clear all the specs of the board, so I will not repeat this information, but recommend all to visit.
I am a total beginner in this board and I could not assist the element-14 webinars, so after searching the hawkboard.org site I found a link for some "hawktalk" videos on youtube which I think that are the webinars (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1124F84A27C30C4E).
With this post I pretend to make a review not only on the pros and cons of the board but also tell my expirience has a beginners point of view. I hope you like my review, feel free to ask any question concern to this board.
Unboxing:
The board comes in a small box filled with hawkboard's images. On the inside you can find the hawkboard and a motorola usb cable b type to power the board throught the USB OTG/Power connector.
In the box there is any type of documentation, and in my opinion there should be at least a cd with a get started guide or a small informative paper.
First Start:
Before I received the board I had already searched the hawkboard.org site and start reading the "getting started" section, and for this reason I already knew that in order to start the board I would need a crossed db9 cable to communicate between the board and my computer in order to start the board.
Neverless I have plug the board to my lcd throught a VGA cable and plug the usb cable.
As expected a hawkboard screen appears on the screen and nothing more happens.
On the next days I will make a cross cable and continue with this post.
