Some changes to RoadTest

Hi,

 

Tonight element14 will be upgraded to a newer version of the platform we use. This change gives us the the chance to improve the way we organise RoadTest. I was at a presentation of the new features last night, so I thought I'd pass them on.

 

The current change is to do with entry to RoadTests.Now we have events, which confuse people as they think that it is a physical event. This was the only way I could figure out how to manage tests when I started the group. From tomorrow, there will be a RoadTest tab next to discussions, documents and events. In that tab there is a drop down menu which will let you navigate to the particular test you are applying for. There you will find a button which lets you apply for the test. You will have to complete a form..name, address etc, which then you can then save to your profile (as private) so the next time the form will be filled in automatically.

 

I think that's the basics of it. The first test using the new system will be tomorrow with the ADI RF kit. Do me a favour and try give it a go and let me know what you think here? I think the first time you apply will take a little longer, but after that it should be just as easy as now.

 

The benefits this change will bring are that I don't need to send a pm to each winner for addresses and then copy and paste into a spreadsheet manually (you can imagine how "fun" that was for me when I had to do 50 for one test, and how excited I was when one Product Manager here offered me 200 dev kits image). After the draw I can go onto the entry page, which looks like it does now, and tick the testers. Anyone can see that page and the testers automatically. The entries will be in a form, which means I don't have to wait 2 - 3 weeks to get addresses from testers, and you get the kits much quicker image.

  • I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but I'm not receiving any emails anymore from the group since the 19th of October.

    Before that, I would receive notification of new content whether I had asked for notification or not which was nice.

    Since then, all I receive is the weekly update email from element14, but no notification for any activity in the group.

    For instance, the message from Niklas above did not trigger an email, nor did the message from Jorge Garcia or jglett about their reviews.

    Have I missed a new setting somewhere?

    Yes, i think the same here.

     

    I have never deeply searched the issue but i think you are right. the only message i have received is just a community status message, that is all. I was thinking there were no any updates from the groups i have already joined.

    I'm not sure, I just got what looked like two weeks notifcations in ten minutes

     

    When you look at the menu on the right, does it say stop or receive email notifications?

    It says "Stop email notifications"

    Maybe the emails are rejected by SMTP servers in between, or maybe they are not sent altogether, I don't know.

    I'm not longer receiving Email notifications either. They just suddenly stopped coming one day.

    Well, I don't know what happened, but I'm now receiving them again.

    There was an outage of the website last Friday, maybe this was when a fix got applied. Or maybe not, but I'm now receiving the emails again.

    Hi RoadTesters, yes it seems that something was blocking our email notifications and that got resolved on Friday - the unfortunately side effect of this is that you probably got a LOT of email notifications that were backed up on the server.

     

    We apologize for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you notice any further issues with your notifications. If you feel you are getting too many, you can update your settings in two places - one is My Account - Preferences - Email Preferences. This is where you can manage the notifications you get on content you have created and/or replied to. You can also go to your Profile and in the Actions box click on "Manage Email Notifications" - this will show you any/all spaces, groups and content on which you are currently set to receive notifications so you can change those as desired.

    Hi Christy,

     

    Yes, I received billions of e-mail notifications image  but still not disturbed as they come from e-14 according to my preference settings. I would like to ask a question, when i create a new discussion or replied to a comment or a discussion message or simply anything on e-14 then i begin to receive every message posted, it is Ok as expected. But, i never receive any message that i have posted, even the message that starts a discussion.

     

    I checked my preference settings and see that there are options like "receive e-mail notification that i create", "receive e-mail notifications that i comment" but there is not any option "receive e-mail notifications that i post".

     

    It may be not a desired option for many users in e14 but i like to receive my messages that i have posted cause it is a bit more easy to follow those messages in my computer.

     

    Is there a chance to have an option like i mention above, please ?

    Hi Firat,

     

    I think that option exists. There is one for "Automatically receive notifications for all discussions I create" as well as "Automatically receive notifications for all discussions I reply to". Try those and let me know if that is what you're looking for.

    I triple checked the Email Notification Prefrences options. All the options are selected as Yes. Either those options do not solve my requirements or, in a way, some options don't work as expected.

    I have started to receive notifications also, however now I have something strang going on.

     

    If i got to www.element-14.com I have to "log in" BUT, it tells me that my user name is incorrect. If I try to retrive my user name, It tells me that my information is incorrect.

     

    The only way I can get into my account is to click on a link in one of my email notifications. Trying to enter threw the front door doesn't work.
