I'm personaly would like to get oscilloscope, even analog one (sometimes those are even better in some tasks), but not those USB ones, becouse those have very litle working voltage range (i think 9V is about max). Of course for basic testing it is enouth and loging data is simple.
Well Arduino or in serial programer and it doesn't matter which one microchip or atmel (well i think atmel is better becouse i know some C already
