Raisonance IDE 7 question

billabott
billabott over 14 years ago

Has anyone tried the new Raisonance integrated development environment (Ride7) with STM8L - Discovery?

I won one in the knode contest run by AreYou InTheKnode (Renford).  It appears that Ride7 makes STM's IDEs

superfluous.  Looking for someone to verify that point of view.  thanks.

It is correct that Raisonance makes free development enviroments for ST devices. I have been using Ride7 for many years now and I have no complaints.

I have used their IDE for both STM32Fxxx development (Cortex-M3) and for STM8S development (8-bit MCU). I also got their USB programmer/debugger which interface nicely with the IDE (of course).

Ride7 is definitely a good and recommendable compiler and IDE solution for ST development, especially because it is free.

If you have any questions feel free to write them here or in a PM to me.

    Best Regards

    Thomas Jespersen

I found that I still had to load the ST Visual Development (stvd) and let it use the Raisonance Assembler/C compiler/Object Linker as the toolset.  It only took a whole day but I managed to climb the first learning curve and get the Discover project recompiled with only 14 warnings relevant to modifing the flash memory on the target chip.  However, I have not yet been able to get either Rflasher or ST Visual Programmer to give any indication that they know how to talk to the demo board - STM8L Discovery.

    Ride7 and RKit-STM8 are found at raisonance.com.

The ST tools are found here.

The  ST-Link on the STM8L-Discovery was recognized by Win XP Pro on my Laptop.  Firmware updated thereon.  Still unrecognized by Win 7.  Unhappy camper with regard to this.

The good news is that I am buying a Arduino UNO and books to do a quick project.

On windows 7 I'm using XPmode. Or try using virtualbox with xp installed inside. My guess is, that windows 7 sees it as flash and do not install ST-Link drivers
