Do you use Pinterest to find products for your projects?

nlarson
nlarson over 13 years ago

Pinterest, a social sharing pin board, has recently become very popular in the past year or so.  I use it all the time for browsing interesting ideas in cooking, crafts, and other miscellaneous curiosities.  I started wondering how Pinterest might be applied to electronics development?  How could/does Pinterest help you do your job better, faster, easier?  Do any of you currently use it for helping find inspiration for future design ideas?

Look forward to hearing your feedback! image

I have been using Pinterest since a week or so.  Upon reading more about pinterest, I have found that most of the users are females and the site currently has major content related to day to day use.

But I like the interface and would be wonderful to have the projects, block diagrams, and board pictures pinned on various walls.  I love the concept though!  Pinning the interest of engineering community would be really interesting to be a part of.

Thanks for posting the discussion.  We can come to know about how many of us are using pinterest or are even aware of it!

One thing I found when starting with Pinterest is how few electronics companies - Farnell included - provide anything "pinnable" on their pages!

The best I could find for my "Suppliers" board was a picture of the Farnell catalogue:

    awneil,

Very cool!  I think this is the first example I've seen of a electronics engineering pinboard!  I've started following you and looking forward to checking out all the future developments!  Looks like you're a pioneer in this space image

    Thanks for your input!

    Hi Nicole,

I took a look at the website and while it look quite eclectic, I decided it was not a place I would like to spend searching.

I get side tracked too easily and I only have a limited time I can spend on the computer do to my disability, so I have to pass this one up for now.

    Maybe later,

    DAB

    Thanks, Nicole!

You're right!  I couldn't find many other electronics/engineering boards to follow - so I'm just feeling my way!

Havn't heard of it before; checked it out; its kind of interesting. I have to admit I don't keep up with FB or G+ as it is, or the other upteen posting sites I am in; not sure if I would follow it either. but it is good to know it is there.
