I thought I'd give this a new thread rather than tag it on the end of the long list that's been running for ages.
Keithly offered a source-meter some time ago and while that was nice the source-meters are quite specialised (I have one and it's great for device characterisation but it's definitely not a DMM.)
The 7510 has some really nice features, low noise 71/2 digit, graphics, etc but it has two stand out features which mean I'd really like to try one:
1) It's fully remote controllable (nothing new there) but can be programmed in LUA - Keithly have offered this "on instrument scripting" for a while and it's a really nice feature - I use it on the source meter but it would be great on a DMM.
2) The 18 bit 1MHz data logging using the full DMM front end - that's really nice and would be brilliant for looking at dynamic power consumption and a whole host of other device and system tests. It is making a big dive into the gap where scopes don't have the resolution and DMMs are too slow. I've got data acquisition stuff that offers 16bits but it doesn't have any where near a 71/2 digit DMM front end.
