Deadline for Reviews?

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

I have recieved this board and I am having a great time playing with  it. I'm wondering if anyone knows the deadline for the review? The  longer I play around the better the review I can write but if it needs to be done quickly I would still be able to write one at this stage.

    Hi Sean,

There is no deadline as such, but most reviewers come back within a month, it depends on the compplexity of the kit. If I were you, I'd take another couple of weeks and write a more complete review.

I was curious about this question myself. Based on other posts and reviews, it seems like if you take a reasonable amount of time (a month, maybe more) before reviewing it would be okay. I know for a fact I would rather see a well constructed review than one that didn't actually give much information on the product that we couldnt already read about in the product description. Sorry for not being able to give a clear number answer..

There's a 2 month deadline. I have noticed that there are actually quite a few poeple not supplying a review at all. I imagine that this is pretty frustrating for Element 14. There seems to be a correlation between actual participation and price of the product. It's a shame. There are always reasons why one may need a little bit of extra time, but just taking the stuff for free and not even investing the time to write a review is pretty pityful. And even if you have to be late - like I had to be on the CC2531EMK review  due to personal constraints - it should be common courtesy to inform Element 14 so that they know what's up. Big products like the upcoming Tektronix Mixed Domain Oscilloscopes MDO4014-3, simply do require more time to review. But even then one can post a preliminary review and add to it as time progresses. But that's just my $ 0.02.

I completely agree. It's a generous program that Element 14 offers, and I think that if enough people were to not complete reviews they might stop the program. Not completing a review isn't fair to anyone!

Maybe they should change the terms and conditions to the extend that people who permanently fail to supply a review or compelling arguments why they couldn't do it, should have to pay the full price of the product. It's incredible what people are capable of doing if otherwise it would drain their wallet.

I too think it's a shame that most people take the raodtesting for granted, Element14 gives developers a privilage and people should respect that and keep to their word. but I do believe they have a blacklisting system that bans people who don't even try and are just looking to get there hands on free stuff without contributing to the comunity. Even though they get anyway with a tool/dev kit that someone else deserves.

I was under the impression that you had to write the review within 4 weeks of recieving the item as you had to click a checkbox saying you would do that when you signed up to RoadTest the product.
