I want to know about all Road Tests and Reviews. But, I don't want to get an e-mail about every jot and tittle that has been changed on the Page.

Does Anyone know why so many notifications are being sent out on this (http://www.element14.com/community/roadTestReviews/1511) and a few other Reviews. From time to time. I have 8 e-mails on it, in my inbox today. And I have deleted at least 50 of them since, 08-16-13. Most all of them look like Duplicates. They start out like this ( see quote below)...

"First look

Today a received MSO2024B oscilloscope from element14.com to review it. Many thanks to element14 community for road test program

http://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/293607990-1511-170991/449-300/1+-+Copy.JPG "

I don't have time to read through them all now, to see if there is some small difference between them all. I do want to read the review. When I can get to it. But, I have spent a couple of hours over the last several days. Perusing the Element14 Site. And can't find a way to stop this. It happens on some Threads, Posts, and Reviews. But, not all of them. I followed the instructions in one Post. That said to go here, Update your email preferences. And changed my e-mail notification settings to just receive a Daily Run down of the Posts. This is Ok. But, leaves out some things, that I enjoyed getting. Still, nothing has changed on the only Thread that sends out too many Notices. This one... Anyone know how to fix this? Is it a Bug on the Site? This has been happening since I joined in Jul of 2011. And I have seen many Threads about it Pop up. But, I have never seen an answer to this problem...

Well, maybe I have just now answered my own Question... I looked at my e-mail notifications settings again. And did a word search in my Browser for "road". And I found and change this setting. Like this... (settings.watch.roadTestReview.comment.label    Yes   No). It was set to, what I guess is the Default, "Yes" (ScreenShot Attached). The strange wording makes it very unclear, what exactly these settings will do. So, I'm not sure what will happen. See the others that pertain to Road Tests below...

Automatically receive notifications for new RoadTests I create                                        Yes   No
Automatically receive notifications for RoadTests I comment on                                        Yes   No
settings.watch.roadTestReview.create.label                                        Yes   No
settings.watch.roadTestReview.comment.label                                        Yes   No

I want to know about all Road Tests and Reviews. But, I don't want to get an e-mail about every jot and tittle that has been changed on the Page. So, maybe this will help. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Don

you know what, if i write review as blog, it has check box for : "Minor edit, don't send notifications"
So this should be done for roadtest page, not just blog page editing.

    Hi Linas,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed Road Test, not everyone takes this much trouble to do a good job.

There are problems with the online editor (as you have found) so it is easier to compose everything offline in a word processor. Get everything looking nice and then convert to a PDF file.

When you are happy with the result you can upload it to the 'Documents' area listed under 'My Content' in your 'Profile' page. You can then just put a link to it in the actual Road Test document that you are currently editing. Just put a short description first and then the link.

Don't upload the PDF directly to the Road Test because this function is broken! It tells you that the file is there but nobody will be able to download it.

I'm pretty sure that people won't mind clicking on a link to see the Road Test and it has the benefit of being downloadable as well for offline viewing.

I hope this helps you out. Enjoy your 'scope!

    Regards,

    Alan

I do all my editing in this post, and i can check "Minor edit, don't send notifications"  each time i do some changes, as you can see, it looks much better. Still fighting for spelling errors, sizes and so on, but if element14 can send me gear like that, i can spend some time to write review to mach it

Looks great, Linus!:) I wonder, if a person wonated to paste their finished Review back into theri Original Road Test Editor (After the Edit Function is fixed, that is). Would the Fromatting stay the same and look this good? I would think so. Since it was done on the Element14 Site Editor. Just in a differeent section of the Site. I'm thinking that the Companies who give out the Products, are only going to bother to read the "Official" Reivews on the Site. They may not even notice this page. And I also wonder if the Site Search Engine will find these pages as well too. Still, I think it is great the you have done what ever it took. To make a great looking and Detailed Review. Thanks for all the work and time you put in on this one...
