I want to know about all Road Tests and Reviews. But, I don't want to get an e-mail about every jot and tittle that has been changed on the Page.

Does Anyone know why so many notifications are being sent out on this (http://www.element14.com/community/roadTestReviews/1511) and a few other Reviews. From time to time. I have 8 e-mails on it, in my inbox today. And I have deleted at least 50 of them since, 08-16-13. Most all of them look like Duplicates. They start out like this ( see quote below)...

"First look

Today a received MSO2024B oscilloscope from element14.com to review it. Many thanks to element14 community for road test program

http://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/293607990-1511-170991/449-300/1+-+Copy.JPG "

I don't have time to read through them all now, to see if there is some small difference between them all. I do want to read the review. When I can get to it. But, I have spent a couple of hours over the last several days. Perusing the Element14 Site. And can't find a way to stop this. It happens on some Threads, Posts, and Reviews. But, not all of them. I followed the instructions in one Post. That said to go here, Update your email preferences. And changed my e-mail notification settings to just receive a Daily Run down of the Posts. This is Ok. But, leaves out some things, that I enjoyed getting. Still, nothing has changed on the only Thread that sends out too many Notices. This one... Anyone know how to fix this? Is it a Bug on the Site? This has been happening since I joined in Jul of 2011. And I have seen many Threads about it Pop up. But, I have never seen an answer to this problem...

Well, maybe I have just now answered my own Question... I looked at my e-mail notifications settings again. And did a word search in my Browser for "road". And I found and change this setting. Like this... (settings.watch.roadTestReview.comment.label    Yes   No). It was set to, what I guess is the Default, "Yes" (ScreenShot Attached). The strange wording makes it very unclear, what exactly these settings will do. So, I'm not sure what will happen. See the others that pertain to Road Tests below...

Automatically receive notifications for new RoadTests I create                                        Yes   No
Automatically receive notifications for RoadTests I comment on                                        Yes   No
settings.watch.roadTestReview.create.label                                        Yes   No
settings.watch.roadTestReview.comment.label                                        Yes   No

I want to know about all Road Tests and Reviews. But, I don't want to get an e-mail about every jot and tittle that has been changed on the Page. So, maybe this will help. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Don

That was my mistake. I keep updating my review, trying to deal with alignments and so on, and i just get information that each change will send email to subscribers about this review.
So my option is to start thread in somewhere else, where no one will get notification about it, and then i get it right update the real one, and delete that post.
    Again, sorry

Hi Kilohercas, that's ok... I'm not blaming you. I know how frustrating getting the formatting anything to work right in the Review Editor on this Site. I figured out that if you edit your work in an HTML Editor, Not a Word Processor like MS Word or Open Office, Libre Office, etc. Things will work much better. Tour Text will not have any Strange Characters, Returns or Spaces. When you copy and Paste them into the Element14 Site Editor. I've worked with Web Sites since 1998 and this formatting issue, has always been a problem with Online Web Site Editors. There are many formatting features in  a Word Processor. That just don't work in HTML, PHP or ASP, etc. I use Thunderbird e-mail Client to Edit my stuff for Web Sites. Since I use it every day for my e-mails. And I use it for my e-mail and also to Post to my Blog, every day. Here's my Reviews that are on Element14 and my Blog,  (http://donsdeals.blogspot.com/2012/10/beginners-view-of-ti-430boost-cc110l.html)  and  (http://donsdeals.blogspot.com/2011/09/beginners-guide-to-ti-msp-exp430fr5739.html).  I edited them in Thunderbird. Which I have set to edit in HTML, not Text mode. Then I e-mail my Post to my Blog. After that, I Copy and Pasted them from my Blog, into the Element14 Editor. I figured this out, after many attempts to upload images to Element14 and make them look nice in the Editor. This is the easiest way for me. You, can also just copy and paste, directly from your HTML Editor. But, if you have images in your Article. They wont work unless you have them hosted on the Web. Some where, that allows "Remote Image Linking". I have read many Posts, in the past about Image Uploads not working right on the Element14 Site. And I had this problem, when I did my reviews too. So, this was my fix. Although, I have been able to upload images, at times, since then. The problem seems to keep coming back. Anyway... That's how I do it. I wouldn't worry, about how many times I update my Thread. It's something, that has to be done, to get things looking right. You can see. That my images are not laid out all that attractively on my Reviews. But, at least they are there and the Text has pretty good formatting now. No strange Characters, lurking now. I think... http://www.element14.com/community/roadTestReviews/1131 and http://www.element14.com/community/roadTestReviews/1356.  I'm sure that the Multi-Notification thing, is an Element14 Site issue. Either in how the e-mail notifications are configured or it is actually a Bug in the Site. I don't know which. I made a Thread on this too, at (http://www.element14.com/community/thread/26500). And I may have figured it out. I'll have to see if the changes I made in my e-mail notification settings fix this, over the next few days.

Update: I have been working on Posting my Review on the XBMC Solution Bundle, http://www.element14.com/community/roadTestReviews/1577. And I was having the same problems with the Formatting. No odd Characters, in mine. But, there are these seemingly Random Spaces in my text and in my links too. None of this is present on my Blogger - Blogspot Page, http://donsdeals.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-xbmc-raspberry-pi-solution-bundle.html. Just in the Element14 Edited Pages. I even tired the trick of making a Blog Post on Element14 and Saving it as a Draft. Like some people suggested in their Posts. But, no luck there either, for me.
I still had these issues. Even when I copied my work from my Blogger Blog, as I have don in the past. And when I tried coping it from Thunderbird e-mail client, as I mentioned before. I even tried editing the Post in Open Office and saving it as an HTML file. But, no go...

I did notice, something while making the Blog Post, though. Element14 uses a different format than Blogger (which I use) does. I got a clue, when I saw that, the Blogger Blogs can't be imported...

The Jive SBS system can currently import text files that have been exported in the Movable Type import format, which means you can import blog content from the following blogging systems:

    • Movable Type (documentation)
    • TypePad (documentation)
    • WordPress (documentation)
    • Roller (documentation)

    Go there... http://www.element14.com/community/blogs-edit-blog-upload!default.jspa?blog=13879

So, I tried something that I had thought of on my firs day of Editing my Review. But, didn't do. I tried using an old HTML Editing App. That I have used for years.  Kompozer, http://kompozer.net/download.php. And it worked like a Charm!:) All of the odd Spaces are now gone and I didn't have to try and edit them out, one at a time, manually!:) Doing this to text, is a real pain and doing it to links can break them. Kompozer, is an older App and it doesn't look like it is still in development. But, it still works great and it is available for Linux (which I use) and Windows too. You might want to check it out (I edited this Post in Kompozer too). Hope this helps...
