ROADTEST POLL: Would You Be Interesting in Roadtesting a Data Acquisition Learning Module?

adalm2000I'm planning a roadtest on this product. I'd like to gauge your interest in roadtesting it.

Here's some information about the product:

ADALM2000 is an (M2K) active learning module is an affordable USB-powered data acquisition module that takes the capabilities of the ADALM1000 (M1K) active learning module to the next level. With 12bit ADCs and DACs running at 100MSPS, the ADALM2000 with the Scopy software, brings the power of high performance lab equipment to the palm of your hand, enabling electrical engineering students and hobbyists to explore signals and systems into the tens of MHz without the cost and bulk associated with traditional lab gear. The ADALM2000, when coupled with Analog Devices' ScopyTm graphical application software running on a computer, provides the user with the following high performance instrumentation.

Here are some of its features:

  • Provides access to real circuits and concepts used in an actual real-time engineering environment
  • Available online resources support educator, guide students to learn difficult engineering concepts
  • Hands-on activities stimulate interest and accelerate learning in fundamental engineering concepts
  • Helps to develop critical thinking skills needed for career development
  • 16-ch digital logic analyzer (3.3V CMOS and 1.8V or 5V tolerant, 100MS/s)
  • 16-ch pattern generator (3.3V CMOS, 100MS/s), 16-ch virtual digital I/O
  • 2 input/output digital trigger signals for linking multiple instruments (3.3V CMOS)
  • Digital bus analyzers (SPI, I²C, UART, parallel)
  • 2-ch oscilloscope with differential inputs, 2-ch arbitrary function generator, 2-ch voltmeter

Yes, there are a lot of tough choices to make when on a limited budget. You can use digilent's waveforms with a sound card to get an idea if this type of product would be useful. I have the OEM version…

I agree, it would be great to be able to test ADALM2000 together with ADALP2000 . I have the ADALM1000 with the ADALP2000 and it's definitely a great kit to learn on.

This looks like a very good RoadTest item. Because it 's designed and supported as a teaching aid it has a wide audience and most E14 members would be able to get it working and find some use for it.

I watched the AD video about the Network Analyzer mode of operation. It has a couple of rough edges, and of course the data acquisition hardware is not in the top league, but the actual Network Analyzer features should have any scope I've used hiding its screen in shame !

You get log and linear sweeps, buffering of the sample waveforms (so you can go back to look at the waveform data that made each sample measurement on the plot). You can have Bode, Nyquist or Nichols plots. The cursors looked good with the amplitude difference between them displayed nicely.

I don't really feel entitled to apply for the Roadtest (if it happens) but I might buy one anyway.

It would be good if the RoadTest included the add on items to make it easy for the tester to do the tutorials.
