ROADTEST POLL: Would You Be Interested Wi-Fi connectivity module used for simpler way to IoT cloud services?

imageI'm planning a roadtest on this product in the Fall. I'd like to gauge your interest in roadtesting it.

Here's some information about the product:

The AIROCTm IFW956810 single-band Wi-Fi 4 CCM evaluation kit features a configurable Wi-Fi connectivity module that provides a simple, secure, plug-and-play solution for connecting products to IoT cloud services. This product also integrates Infineon’s CIRRENT cloud solutions to make connected products easier to use, more reliable, and more secure.

Here are some features:

  • Evaluation on PC to experience connecting to cloud using simple command set
  • Compatible with AWS IoT ExpressLink
  • On-board antenna
  • Firmware is pre-installed (OTA updates supported)
  • Serial interface to development systems

Here are some key benefits:

  • Allows evaluation of CCM modules without simple AT commands from a PC
  • Allows development of customer applications using the CCM module.

What the sponsor is looking for?

The sponsor is looking for roadtesters that don't have a lot of background in Wi-Fi. They believe you do not need much of a background and it's quick and easy to connect. That's what they want tested.

7/31/23- I asked the sponsor about this since there were some questions.

They responded:

"We are targeting customers who have little experience creating connected products and that spans Wi-Fi, networking, security, and cloud services."

I definitely qualify as not having much Wifi experience, but I am not sure about doing a road test.

Hi rscasny and all roadtestes. WiFI is never easy and connecting to Cloud services is a great challenge. I have worked with EVK's that have WiFI capibilities and have sucessfully connected to Azure IoT…

Great questions. My first meeting with Infineon addressed the profile of the roadtesters they desired. Let me contact them.

Got an idea for a simple project that can use this device rolling around in your head. Focus on the project and my belief is the Roadtest creates itself.

I would have thought that they would be looking for someone who has little experience connecting products to IoT cloud services rather someone who has little experience of WiFi itself, as this kit is aimed at demonstrating the ease of setting up this cloud service connection process.

    Hi rscasny  and all roadtestes.

WiFI is never easy and connecting to Cloud services is a great challenge. I have worked with EVK's that have WiFI capibilities and have sucessfully connected to Azure IoT but never the AWS cloud service. It was not very plug and play and it took days to Debug and Diagnose. I use WIFI as a means of storeing Telemetry data in the cloud and I'm by no means an expert.

It will be interesting to see how the Infinion solution stacks up to these other solution. This is a brilliant solution. Nice job Infineon

Regarding your comment, Infineon told me today:

"We are targeting customers who have little experience creating connected products and that spans Wi-Fi, networking, security, and cloud services."

Infineon saw your links today and thought they were good. Infineon also added:

"Cirrent is an Infineon brand for various SW analytics tools and services.

The last one, Cloud ID, and an onboarding app are mentioned in the Getting Started Guide and can be directly used during the CCM product roadtest. It’s good feedback that people find this confusing. One thing to note is that Cloud ID is an optional feature. It is intended to facilitate the management of certificates from the factory floor to the cloud provider."

Infineon is a bit like that, sometimes you have to jump into hoops to find some info.
