Seeking Your Interest in RoadTesting an IR light angle sensor board

rscasny
rscasny over 1 year ago

imageI have had a conversation with a supplier interesting in having the element14 community roadtest its IR light angle sensor board. I don't recall us previously roadtesting this type of sensor (or at least recently within the past year), so let me give you a few facts about it.

If you have the time to explore the device, I'd appreciate you voting in my poll below. Of course, you are free to leave a comment. Many thinks.

Here's a few facts about the board:

EVAL-ADPD2140Z is an evaluation kit to evaluate the ADPD2140 IR light angle sensor, collect data from the ADPD2140, and evaluate gesture recognition and triangulation capabilities. The evaluation kit requires the EVAL-ADPDM3Z evaluation board and the Applications Wavetool, a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides users with low level and high level configurability, real-time data analysis, and user datagram protocol (UDP) transfer capability, which allows the EVAL-ADPDM3Z evaluation board to interface to a PC. The USB port of the PC powers the EVAL-ADPDM3Z evaluation board and provides power to the EVAL-ADPD2140Z evaluation board. On-board voltage regulators provide voltage supplies for the ADPD2140.

Here's some documentation

It seems that theory of operation is similar to MAX25405 which we experimented with in design challenge: Experimenting with Gesture Sensors . But still it would be nice to see how alternative approaches…

True, but you could use a reflective ball on the end of a rod to see just how accurately you could make the position locations respond to a series of preset activities. That and you could use it to test…

obones I agree that the range drives the application. It makes me think of those "foot operated" sensors that are supposed to open passenger vehicle liftgates simply by waving your foot beneath the vehicle…

    Very interesting device.

I will have to think about testing it.
