I have been talking to two of our supplier Partners (STMicroelectronics and Wurth Elektronik) about having an element14 electronics engineer perform some testing of their dev kit and report on ease of use, overall capabilities (i.e., project, perhaps) and component quality.
I call this a special project because its a little bit of a roadtest, a little bit of a design challenge, and a little bit of circuit design/component quality review.
The actual kit the selected member will receive is itemized in the table below. It is basically a motor control kit with the hardware needed to add a sensor to the set up. It drives a BLDC motor, which you will get and uses an external DC power supply, which I also provide. We would like you to do the following:
1. Like a roadtest, give an overall review of the entire kit. This can be a classic getting-started review or a project. It's up to the person. (Note; you don't have to review the external power supply or the motor.)
2. Comment of the ease of adding a sensor to the main board set-up. I believe the main board has some on-board sensors. However, we are provided an external vibration sensor as well.
3. Wurth Elektronik is the main sponsor of this special project. Thus, it is interested in getting some feedback on the components it has provided for the main board. These components include: CON8, CON9, CON10, C2, C9, C17, C19, C21, C29, LED1, LED2, LED3, L1, L2, SW1, SW2, TP2. (Links to schematics and bill of materials ) This may be a little challenging to do. I think they are looking for a commentary and/or feedback on their components. If I were doing this assignment, I'd focus on the capacitors and the inductors, and perhaps devise some tests around them.

What the selected member needs to deliver?
We have done a couple of these special projects. Years ago, we did one with Molex's high current connectors. A little more recently, top member ralphjy did a superb job on Bluetooth LE Transmit Testing with Rohde & Schwarz's FPC1500. Here is a link to the summary of that special project:
Personally, I think what you could do is a blog for each of the three points I mention above. That would be 3 blogs total.
I surely don't want to dictate it. These special projects always depend a various factors.
Are you Interested? Please vote in the Poll.
If you are interested in receiving this kit and doing the special project, please vote in the poll. The people who vote in the poll will be the target group I will contact. You can also make a comment on anything you have a question about. You will not need to fill in an application. I have only 1 kit to give.
