I'm almost finished with the Weller Micro Soldering Kit and Filtration Unit. My last tests are with the automatic tip cleaner.
It has a proximity sensor, and only spins the fiber brushes when your iron gets close to the opening.

That looks awesome! I bet you'll never go back to sponge or ball of wire wool. I have not touched my JBC wire wool for over a year, since using the low-cost Aixun automatic cleaner, and it noticeably saves time, since it's always clean without moving your focus from the main soldering task as much. Your Weller model has clearly larger brush heads, plus they are a bit closer together (whereas I have to move my fine soldering tips a bit to get full coverage from the spinning brushes).
I've been meaning to add LED illumination to the Aixun for ages, but still need to get around to it. The metal brushes have been working well, no sign of anything wearing out.
If I was soldering more regularly, I'd definitely be interested in purchasing that Weller cleaner.

Yes, it cleans the smallest tips too. No need to "wave the iron", just poking once works.
the brass balls work fine, but they end up making a mess, do any solder bits fly out?
No. There's a rubber curtain at the opening that avoids it, and the brush action is inwards at contact point.
