Are there any products you own - that you'd like to write a RoadTest Review for?

Predominantly we setup RoadTests based upon discussions we have in the element14 Community team, or when we're approached by suppliers or manufacturers that would like their hardware 'tested'.

It occurs to me though, that many of our members may already have hardware, equipment or kit that they could or would like to write a RoadTest for, maybe we could even supplement these with accessories to help the RoadTest along.

We would need some way of deciding which product to setup the page for to RoadTest, but we've had a number of times now where people have stepped forward and said they'd like to RoadTest an item that they already have. It may have to be something that Farnell stocks, fundamentally.

Let me know your thoughts.

One that springs to mind would perhaps be a RoadTest of an add-on for a piece of existing test equipment such as a feature unlock licence or an expansion module.

I love this idea. I have no idea what I would choose to review at this moment, but the idea has great merit. I really like the idea because I think that a "Review" is assessed as a deeper dive into the…

Most of my meters, tools, and electronic parts are on the verge of obsolescence. It doesn't take very long to get there.

Road tests help me to look forward.

This is a fantastic idea although I cannot quite decide if my vote is option 1, 2 or even 3. I quite like option 3 as an incentive.

It was only yesterday that I was looking at this dev board: https://ie.farnell.com/microchip/ev33a17a/curiosity-ultra-dev-brd-arm-cortex/dp/4459393?MER=BR-MER-PDP-RECO-STM72194

I decided that it was a hefty price to pay (+$100) to satisfy my curiosity. E.g. the NXP dev board (FRDM-MCXE247) is much cheaper (circa. $30).

The reason for looking at this board is that the chipset is an Arm Cortex-M33 processor and includes 10/100 Ethernet. Perfect for Single Pair Ethernet etc.

What is also very attractive is that the chip itself is sub $5.

This is one of many such cases.

Speaking of SPE, I have 2 Arduino SPE shields sitting in a box that I have yet to try out. Maybe this is the prompt to do something.

I selected the second option. Usually, in a road test review of a product, you can also see reviews of the same product from others, allowing you to compare ratings from different people. If we include reviews of the product we own along with the road test, there is no guarantee that other people who have the same product will add their own reviews as well. As a result, people who want to know about the product may be influenced by only one review, which is not a good idea.

I have a phenomenal tool I'd like to show off (carried by Newark/Farnell).

It needs a selection of connectors. Is there a proposal process to negotiate a road test where e14 supplies some connectors?

that would be interesting - Arduino shields are T1S and we are mainly exploring T1L here...

That would be a great way of forcing oneself to thoroughly learn some prizes we may get - some may be underutilized by using only some standard subset of functions instead of exploring all the possibilities...

I'm not sure I follow the logic of what you're saying here, could you try explaining it differently?

Well it needs to be a product on our online store, and this discussion was about products you already own, but we're always interested in hearing about products people want to write a review for.

That's part of what we're thinking about with this thread.

Also, since you're a Top Member you can always ask in the forum there and we might arrange something. Slight smile
