Seems like the countdown timer doesn't match the time listed in the "end date"?

My end date is 4/7/17 10:00 PM, current time (in my timezone) is 4/6/17 7:00 PM, but it says I have just under 15 hours left (which would make the end date 4/7/17 10:00AM).

It looks like the time is GMT - but that is not stated and, apparently, doesn't match the reader's timezone.

This is a classic problem with forums being viewed all across the world, and having contributions from all across the world!

Also, the aa/bb/[yy]yy date format is ambiguous and should be avoided in international contexts - who knows whether the 'aa' is the month or the day ... ?!

    Interestingly mine shows

    Start Date: 02/03/17 10:00 AM

    End Date: 07/04/17 10:00 AM

Which suggests that it's using the users local settings to render the dates.

I've checked the preferences (top right) and it seems that if you select United States, or Other for your country in the Jive preferences then it will use the m/d/yy format.

It appears that it will be GMT which shouldn't have a am/pm.

We have UTC because we work in UTC time.

Hey Mark, GMT and UTC are timezones rather than display formats. So 10:00 PM is still valid as is 22:00.

Edit: the other Andy beat me to it!

Something I learnt just the other week was that the daylight saving in the Southern hemisphere was the reverse of what we have. Hence why Mark's clock says that it just ended and ours has just begun.

How about we switch to stardate or Unix time? Surely that would make everything much clearer.

    awneil

    sorry my mistake.

UTC definately doesn't have the am/pm.

I'd be happy to remove any reference to am and pm and stick with 24hr clocks ...
