RoadTesting the Arty Z7 Board in Preparation of the onlinelabseries curriculum

Hi there, I am really interested in participating in the road test of the Arty Z7 in preparation for a potential FPGA live stream lab series that I will be running on onlinelabseries. onlinelabseries is a live streaming lab experience for anyone, anywhere in the world. I started the platform about 1 month ago and since then, we have already received numerous product supports, sponsorships, and partnerships including major global players like Samtec Inc. And our brand list is constantly growing at the moment.

As part of having the onlinelabseries, we aren't just going to focus on the basics or theoretical concepts of the brands/products we feature in the series. But we also want to explore a more practical, useful side of the products. What this means is that we will also be able to explore real-world projects and applications that other users can do with the same product(s).

Ultimately, we would love to develop a full lab series around FPGA products that spans 60-sessions, spanning across an entire year. Best of all, this whole entire lab series will be free. This means that anyone, anywhere in the world will have the opportunity to gain access to high-quality education and skills development content. If you were to follow our articles on onlinelabseries' website, you will be able to read some of our articles.

Here are some of the links:

I really look forward to having the opportunity to review the FPGA product and using it to start planning the lab curriculum! As a platform/community, we also welcome those whose willing to support our series and even make your own contributions.

Thank you, everyone! This is indeed going to be an exciting year!

You need to get that information in a prominent place on the website - right now I wouldn't register with you - who will be getting the information ?

Hi Michael, thanks for the response. onlinelabseries is basically a platform & community to provide free live streaming lab sessions where viewers who follow along with the series can also have a hands-on. Think of how you would normally have to pay to attend a physical workshop, but this time, it's virtual. Sure, it's not intended to replace physical workshops. I have conducted many workshops in the past and nothing can ever replace that. But having onlinelabseries means that many people all over the world will have a chance at learning what others are learning at a physical workshop.

onlinelabseries is NOT a business entity. I have zero intentions of making money from the platform or community. This is really out of my own passion and desire to want to give back to the community. The platform & community does provide me with the opportunity to also do what I am passionate about, technology, and it also allows me to have a "stage" to share and give back to the community at large. Think of it like a social enterprise that focuses on the education/skills development for the masses. I am personally still looking for a full-time job so that I can also help to support the whole platform & community. At the current moment, the platform/community (e.g. website, email services) are all dependent on the kind donations of those who support the community and the future content that will be available through it.

(Below shows 2 of the brands that have currently partnered with the community to help bring products into the fold. Our very first lab series will be focused on Adeept Studio's Electronics Kits and Products. At the present moment, we are also speaking to a number of other brands regarding developing a lab series around their products as well).

Do the partners you would like to work with know that you're using their logo? I find it misleading.

    Hi Jan Cumps,

Yes, I have actually reached out to all of them. Many have already responded and are in the process of working out the partnership. Placing the brand on the web page is also intended as a way of letting the community members know that these are the contents we would like to bring to the learning platform. They might not all happen so soon, some actually might since the talks are already progressing. Nonetheless, the most important factor here is that we didn't label them as "official" partners. That would then be wrong and misleading.

Some of those brands we are speaking to right now, might have a chance of featuring them in a solo series later in the year, which is great. Some of them might be towards the end of the year, maybe Q3 of 2018. Well, we will see how things goes from there.

    Cheers,

    Sherman

Hey guys, I am happy and excited to announce that officially, we have just secured another 2 partners onto our platform/community. We will officially have our first long-running lab series with a company called 4D Systems. And it will be a long-running lab series consisting of 48 lab sessions, 96 companion articles, Duration: 12-months.

With Lascar Electronics, which consists of 25 lab sessions, 50 companion articles, Duration: 6-months.

Definitely hope to get more support from the tech, electronics and IoT community as well. image
