C2000 Piccolo LaunchpadThe InstaSPIN™-FOC enabled C2000™ Piccolo LaunchPad is an inexpensive evaluation platform designed to help you leap right into the world of sensorless motor control using the InstaSPIN-FOC solution. The LaunchPad is based on the Piccolo TMS320F28027F with unique features such as 64KB of on board flash, 8 PWM channels, eCAP, 12bit ADC, I2C, SPI, UART, and InstaSPIN-FOC in on-chip execute only ROM memory. The LaunchPad includes many board hardware features such as an integrated isolated XDS100v2 JTAG emulator for easy programming and debugging, 40 PCB pins for easy access to the pins of the F28027F processor, reset button and programmable button, etc.

    Moreover, I did manage to get an Example Project working with LED's all on, but it so seems that this kit was not intended to be a Launchpad ?? , I mean there isn't any easy way around this damn kit. It tool me 2-3 weeks getting a Simple blink Led Working ?? I wanted to use this kit in my Bluetooth Controlled Mobile Robot Project(technervers.com), but instead I ended up using MSP430 and Even demonstrated it at Makerspace Bangalore. I will do a review once I am settled at my new Room. I don't think it will be as a good review as i did for few kits before due to the fact that I have to learn Loads of stuff before I even get somewhere near being comfortable with this kit .

    Hey @Kas Lewis, Sorry for the late Reply,

    I had mentioned in a comment as soon as I received the kit, that the processor on the Launchpad is F28027 rather than F28027F. I got the samples couple of weeks ago but I don't have proper tools to replace a LQFN Package without damaging the original MCU. Further I have recently shifted my room So !! image image

    Got my samples from TI today and I will see if switching out the controller allows me to run any of the demos for the 2802F C2000 Launchpad, I'll let you know what happens, if anything happens.

    you could order a sample from TI of the F28207F and remove what is currently on your board and replace it with the new sample, they are pin compatible.

    Looking over my kit it is also a F28027 and the boosterpack uses a F28027F, I will check if what I have is compatible or not but this might explain some of the issues we are having. I wonder if everyone got a F28027 instead of an F28027F. Anyways the lack of documentation for the F28027 demo code is not making it any easier. I have put in my review but is neither complete or anywhere close to my standards of acceptable, but with what TI has delivered I'm not sure to much more is possible.

     

    If it is not possible to do much more with this kit I don't expect or really want E14 sending another one as its been so long since this road test was started even if I only received everything a little over 2 months ago. We will see what can be done and report back. Gurinder as for getting the code to compile and run I was given this link http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/171/7776.C2000_5F00_launchpad_5F00_ba… from TI and found it helped with one demo, I still can't get any other demos to run. There is another page that they have pointed me to that may also have some help, I am in the process of going through this too. There may still be a chance to write a decent review about half of the kit at least image here is to trying...

    Well, I did try out the CCS6 thingy and nop it doesn't work !! It compiles and even burns the code but it doesnt debug !! that's actually strange..

    I did had an copy of ccs5 installed earlier for an earlier Roadtest, but It seams that i forgot to install the C2000 Support image . and I also forgot to download the GUI .

    Further, I am kinna busy till 14th Oct, some deadlines , so i have stopped playing with the kit for now !! image may be will do so after 14th image. It's 2AM here, do i guess i should go to bed now image will post my findings ! image

    That is the approach I would take. I got two road tests on the same day applied for them weeks apart so just trying to make a game plan on how to get everything done in the right amount of time as well as update my CC3100 code for the new firmware and enable it to work on the CC3200. So with all that it may take me a week or so to actually get down to posting useful comments on E14.

     

    That being said I have looked at this road test a bit and I cant seem to find a quick easy way to get started with it, could not find demo code to run in CCS, if you could point me in the correct direction that would definitely help me get started with this road test sooner and help me start posting useful comments here sooner too.

This tool enables developers to program, debug, and compule code directly onto your LaunchPad evaluation kit. CCS is available for free without any restrictions when used with the XDS1000 emulator on the C2000 LaunchPad.

    But the description did say full use of CCS, testing GCC is not the same as testing TI's compilers... Oh well...

    I Guess I Got a Wrong Launchpad ?? The RoadTEST Page mentions TMS320F28027F i.e. The InstaSPINTm-FOC enabled C2000Tm Piccolo LaunchPad ,

    but I have received the C2000 without the InstaSPINTm-FOC.  To be more particular, The LP has TMS320F28027PTT instead of TMS320F28027FPTT ??

     

    I am not sure about the Booster pack as I haven't looked into that yet Hopefully that's correct !

  • Finally I got the Kit. image @ Kas I guess we don't as With Ti's CCS 6 , Ti has added support for GNU ARM Toolchain and MSP GCC Toolchain, not for C2000 !!

    I'm sure I am missing something, but how do we get an unrestricted version of CCS? There does not appear to be any information in the package.

    I got my Road Test yesterday and I must say I was underwhelmed by the packaging. I do not like when the packaging is oversized as it gets tough having to store a box that it 10 times the size of whats inside. As for the boards themselves I have not had a chance to get to them yet but it looks impressive and cleanly done in usual AWESOME TI style, definitely looking forward to digging into this one.
