Detailed Review:

Firstly thanks to all that allowed me to do this road test. Secondly this is my first ever review so I hope it's good.

The characteristic of the product is

  • STM32F100RB microcontroller, 128 KB Flash, 8 KB RAM in 64-pin LQFP
  • On-board ST-Link with selection mode switch to use the kit as a stand-alone ST-Link (with SWD connector)
  • Designed to be powered by USB or an external supply of 5 V or 3.3 V
  • Can supply target application with 5 V and 3 V
  • Two user LEDs (green and blue)
  • One user push button
  • Extension header for all QFP64 I/Os for quick connection to prototyping board or easy probing

 

In this product I like the push button to interact with the microcontroller and the two led to see the reaction of this.

I  liker also the possibility to supply it with 5V or 3V depending of our  application and the acces of all the pin of the microcontroller. With  this we can put the product in our application and use

all the  pin all the microcontroller as we want and this is a good advantage.  Because some evaluation board have a predefined access pin and the other  can't be use.

I regret that the product was deliver with nothing. I expected a cd  with documentation, application note, source code and sofware to use  the product rapidly.

The time to find and download all that I spend more than 1 hour because the documentation, the source code and the sofware are located at different places.

Finally i use Atollic TrueSTUDIO/STM32 Lite, built on Eclipse.  The advantage of it is it's free in lite version with no code size  limitation.

Eclipse environement is familiar for me so it's easy to use it.

The  source code supplier in the website is sufficient to understand the  main function and there have a lot of comment to understand the program  more easily

 

So the STM32VLDISCOVERY have a good name. With this module you can discover all the possiblity of  STM32F100RB. For this reason i like it and I recommend it to the person  who want to develop  an application with this microcontroller or to the  person who want to discover ST microcontroller easily.
