Would You Be Interested in Roadtesting an Automotive 3-Phase Motor Gate Driver EVM?

I am wondering if the RoadTester Group would be interested in roadtesting an Automotive 3-Phase Motor Gate Driver Evaluation Module.

It's specifically used for designing 3-phase BLDC motor gate drivers for automotive applications.

I would be looking for people who are interested in automotive applications. And also people who are really into motor control.

I'm trying to gauge the interest in the RoadTester group for this type of EVM.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm interested, because for a next project I'm planning to build a voltage generator for E-Bikes. With this module i will make a generator driver, a work bench, for the laboratory. In December last…

As Kas said, the issue is the associated items you'd need to work with this such as a motor and some kind of mechanical load or braking system. I don't really have a spare car to experiment on but I can…

The survey was to gather info for this product's roadtest. One of the important takeways of the poll was that we need to provide the roadtesters with a motor unless they have have one. I'm sending the info to TI and I hope to get their decision in the near future.

    Thanks.

I'd agree, Plus, it appears we would need to send a test motor along with the board unless the roadtester had a project where he had the load.

    Thanks.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a RoadTest by Invitation!

    We can hope.

Will there be a road test for this driver or was is just a survey?

As the others said it is a rather specialised controller.

The 25A means that small fans and the like are not really the intention.

I suspect one application is for electric assist steering

Maybe TI have an idea of the type of application they want to see it used for, afterall they will have a say in the testers.

I think the roadtest should focus on automotive applications where the supply is 12V.

Good observation, I was thinking it was a reduced voltage implementation to control electric vehicle main motors.

12v is also common in off-grid solar installations and RVs, so I could see this being used to control a variable-speed fan for cooling an RV or (solar powered) greenhouse or similar.

I think the roadtest should focus on automotive applications where the supply is 12V. The supply range of the driver is just bellow new 48V system, because it is intended to be used for low power motor of fuel and water pumps or blowers in the car (as the DRV8305-Q1 datasheet states). I have a BLDC motor for model cars that requires high current.

It does say it can control motors running on as little as 4.4 volts, so I'm guessing a small inexpensive motor could be used.

What are those little motors from hard drives? Are they 3 phase?

I am with Kas on this one.

It would be fun to play with, but without a motor you are greatly restricted.

It is just not something most of us have just lying around.
