Would You Be Interested in RoadTesting an Analog Output Module with Adaptive Power Management (Reference Design)?

This quad-channel, analog output module delivers voltage and current outputs using the highly integrated DAC8775 digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Integrated adaptive power management, along with the LM5166 buck converter, reduces the total power dissipation of the reference design to less than 1 W, even when driving all four channels at 20 mA simultaneously.

Features

  • <1-W of Total Power Dissipation driving all four-channels at 20-mA
  • <0.1 %FSR of Total Unadjusted Error in either Voltage or Current mode
  • 8-µA of Peak-to-Peak Current Output Ripple
  • 200-µV of Peak-to-Peak Voltage Output Ripple
  • Adaptive Power Management for Current Outputs

it really boils down to "do you have a use for it AND the capability to test it" In my case I have neither and consider someone else possibly would, so therefore it's better that I tick the not interested…

Quite agree with Mark - luckily, I have got an application! I've a nice piece of industrial kit with 4 4-20mA inputs that I really ought to get around to building an automated tester for, and this would…

Difference in backgrounds of the members will play a key role. As a maker/hobbyist, it sounds like chinese to me, so I'm not interested. An actual engineer like you will think the complete opposite

Would be a perfect test module for my Watt-A-Live INA209 Power Monitor Shield FeatherWing, to get good measurements to determine tolerances over the low end of the measurement range.

It looks like an interesting device but I also don't have an application that I could put it into for road testing.

More than three wires, definitely beyond my capabilities.

Sure there are some on here though that would be able to find a use for it and give it a good road test.

I would need to really spend time looking into this to see what I would use it for and how I would use it. It may be a great piece of kit but as Peter says, if you don't have a way to test it or now anything about it maybe take a pass till you do.

I agree, interesting device, but I am not sure what I would use it for.

I've worked on lots of projects where this capability was essential - maybe this short list will provide some ideas:

    • controlling proportional valves
    • controlling actuator position or actuator velocity
    • controlling motor speed
    • the demand signal for analog control systems and feedback loops
    • adjustable set-points
    • adjustable thresholds
    • analog integration voltages

    etc.

Unfortunately, most of the systems I've worked on are far too expensive for me to have lying around at home waiting for new subsystems to test.
