Here are some details:

  • Equipped with a 32-bit RX72N microcontroller (maximum operating frequency: 240 MHz, code flash memory: 4MB, internal RAM: 1MB)
  • Includes a WQVGA LCD with a capacitive touch panel allowing GUI development using an LCD controller and a 2D drawing engine
  • Provides a D2Audio audio IC with a stereo MEMS microphone to support voice input and output
  • Supports communications such as Wi-Fi/BLE and Ethernet
  • Extended storage available using Macronix's 32Mbit serial flash with USB and microSD slots
  • Includes a variety of Renesas analog devices, such as light sensors, regulators, clock generators, hot-swap power management ICs and LCD backlight drivers
  • The pre-installed demo includes source code, schematics, BOM, and more downloadable from this website
  • RX72N users can use the emWin GUI software package provided by Segger at no cost.
  • Download the free Eclipse-based development environment here
  • Two types of demo software using RX72N features are pre-installed
  • Standard demo: The standard included demo is a sports game called Eyecatcher, highlighting the type of display that can be developed using the free emWin GUI tool and RX72N LCD display functions.
  • Benchmark demo:A firmware update function is installed, and you can add features such as storage, cryptographic throughput, and AWS integration by updating to the latest firmware.

A complete and well integrated system with a full set of tools. This module looks like it would be lots of fun to play around with and make some impressive GUI applications. The form factor would be easy…

Been working with ESP32 and ILI943 graphics as well as NXP i.MX RT1060 video and audio. Would be nice to road test a development kit like the RX72 kit with so many built-in features!

Looks like they could plant a potato or two whilst you enjoy your breakfast.  image

    Rod,

There will not be any potatoe plantingt oday and possibly for a few days. I've just been informed that it is snowing - in April! That's not what we expect in the South (of the UK).

LOL - very true and the trowel/hand/arm only needs charging with a decent breakfast. The force required to scrape dirt whilst staying in the same place would also need a substantially sized (and weighted) robot. My last robot effort had trouble hauling itself along, let alone doing anything useful image

    Rod,

It's a thought isn't it.  Although for the 20 I will be planting, a trowel is probably more cost-effective.

You mean you haven't made a "potato planting robot" or "earthing up robot" .....maybe one project to ponder as you sit in your garden looking at the rows of shoots breaking the surface image.

Thanks, that's what I thought, I'll have to spread the processing time on various machines. And because I don't want my data to leave my network, I would have to implement it on my own server (I already have one).

This is quite big of a project, not something that I may be able to pull off in 60 days...

If that roadtest comes out, I'll ponder seriously before applying.

This MCU is powerful enough to do some basic speech recongnition without need of any external system. 1 MiB of RAM can hold about 32 seconds of audio signal sampled at 16 kHz with 16bit resolution. MCU is also powerfull enough to do some compression and decompression of this data. I think you do not need utilize SD card for storing data and you probably can implement streaming audio to cloud without any external memory. it is recommended to use DMA for transfer between I2S peripheral and cpryto (it is named TSIP - Trusted Secure IP on this platform) peripheral for encrypting data packets to cloud. It will require "cooperation" with library and I am not sure if there are any SDK which can utilize encryption of communication using this proprietary TSIP.

Implementation probably will not be the easiest, but It is possible I think.
