I purchased Folger Tech Prusa i3 RepRap Full 3D Printer Kit w/ Clear Acrylic Frame of  eBay ( haven't received it yet ) and I'm looking for 3d software . What would be good start.  I am also building a cnc 3d wood router and been playing with Mach 3 , but looking for other options .  Any ideas ?

Good Question. Ive been asking myself this for some time now and I have come up with the following analysis. Beginner at 3D modelling? Google/Timble Sketchup is what you are looking for. Its an easy to…

Another tool i would recommend even though its in beta is https://www.onshape.com/ . Now this is a little overkill for the average user. You can compare it to Solidworks or Inventor in functionality hence…

When you say jammed Garth what exactly do you mean.  Is the hotend jammed with filament if so you will have to take it apart and i will usually soak it if its PLA in some acetone.  I have also used a small needle to pull out the burned filament.  If you do have it apart i would also clean out the drive system as the teeth will over time get clogged and cause slipping.

If the filament is stuck in the extruder you will have to clean it out ( You have to be careful not to damage/scratch the tip) .

very good write-up   Inderpreet Singh            I played with the tinkerbot they have very good tutorial ( I can due most of there practice design's ) I cant rotate very good on laptop (I need a better mouse)... I like Google sketchup ..... going to try others later....

Another thing I likes about Tinkercad is you can set up your print max size, so everything will fit on your print area.....  I'm not sure what one I was looking at   but you could slice your object and print both halves then glue together..

Another thing I found out is I want to be able to print two or more colors , one is not going to do it for me. I want to print chess pieces in at least two colors. so I ordered a pre assembled dual extruder $80.00 eBay...

I saw there was 2 input filaments that got blended into one. The called it  2-1 and they said you could use two colors or two different types of  filament (one for fill).

I'll second OnShape since it's similar to the Solidworks I'm used to.  I don't think I'd pay for the extra features though.  I'm just going to use it at home on my own stuff.
