3D Print This Limited Edition Pi Case

Hi Community members,

If you haven't heard already (and we don't see how you couldn't have), the new Pi 2 is here! (and now the Raspberry Pi 3Raspberry Pi 3 which this case is also compatible with!)

We know that a 3D printed case is just the accessory you need for the latest version of our favorite supercomputer.

That's why we've put our heads together with our friends at CEL Robox to provide the files (see attached) for the smart, fashionable cases below:

Need a 3D printer? We encourage you to buy a CEL Robox 3D PrinterCEL Robox 3D Printer if you live in any country with the exception of the US, Canada, Mexico or Brazil.

Enjoy!

Here you go... printed with Colorfabb XT sorry not on a CEL Rebox 3D Printer but on my home built machine. It's a good fit but the overhangs make it hard to detach the ethernet cable when enclosure closed…

Just finished printing the bottom half on my newly installed glass bed. The result is great! Thanks for sharing this great enclosure. One little remark perhaps: by default the bottom part was on its side…

with the parts available these days, it is perfectly doable

3D printer, CNC Router, Laser Cutter, PCB Mill are all basically the same technology except for the head

Love the resolution on that case. That 3d printer can print 20 microns layers but is limited by the odd build platform. Still worth looking in too.

I was indeed wondering why the "14" was deeper when printing image

ah that explains why the 14 of "element 14" are deeper cut so they would show orange.  I did wonder, nice one.

Simple as pressing pause and then eject before loading new filament and resuming.

There is a small qty of the previous filament that needs to be pushed out before the new filament is visible, then a small mix of filament before the new filament flushes the old though the nozzles. We typically pause at the start of a "fill" section so all the colour change happens inside the part. We plan to add some configurable "pauses" into future software releases which will alert a user to a colour change or even a pause to allow the user to insert a captive nut or wiring loom (or other more amazing item). This is a fairly simple addition and our pause function is nice and robust.

Sorry Clem, not twist the print, twist the model when you load it into Automaker before pressing the "layflat" button. It's initially standing up on one edge and if you don't turn the lid around before laying flat it lays it on the wrong side as per second screenshot

What's the technique for getting the different colours on the Robox? Surely you'd need to purge the nozzle between each colour?
