On September 22, Yoon Suk-yeol, President of South Korea visited the University of Toronto to discuss the future of artificial intelligence.
aUToronto was able to showcase the multimodal perception system that it developed for autonomous vehicles. Team principal Jiachen (Jason) Zhou and former captain Jingxing (Joe) Qian gave the presentation and demonstration to the South Korean delegation.
aUToronto's autonomous vehicle design took first place at SAE/GM's AutoDrive Challenge. The multimodal perception system used Cepton LiDARs, cameras from LUCID Vision Labs, Inc. and NovAtel's GNSS. Newark and the element14 Community are sponsoring aUToronto, as they compete in SAE/GM's AutoDrive Challenge II.
