Volvo’s C30 EV has been awarded the coveted title of ‘Green Car of the Year’ in China, during the 4th New Energy Mobility Summit, after having delivered 15 cars to the city of Shanghai for an open road test-drive project called ‘EV 100 Days’.
Freeman Shen, Senior VP of Volvo Car Corp. and Chairman of their China Operations said “We feel honor yet responsibility to share our world-class know-how in new energy vehicles with China, our second home market, in joint efforts from regulators, suppliers and customers. We're confident to take a prominent role in China's safe and sustainable electrification development, making cars for a better life [. . .] The handover and kick-off of public involvement is a milestone for Volvo Car Corporation's new energy vehicle move in China. We are really proud to introduce this great car to ordinary Chinese car users."
Volvo’s ‘green’ intentions are clear, and given their connection with China via their owner, Geely, means that they will be able to test and then sell their ‘green’ offerings in the PRC with ease, compared to manufacturers which don’t have a direct link to China and have to source various partners and sign deals which may or may not pay off.
