Can Green Transportation Becomes Reality? Green Vehicles! Green Trains! Green Aeroplanes! Green Ships!

Green transportation is definitely not new and many people have been discussing on it recently. So why are we not putting these green transportation thoughts into reality? Challenge this question if you have come across any good example or move. Green vehicles, Green trains, Green aeroplanes, Green ships, or something else? Please bear in mind that transportation is one of the major contributors of the global carbon emission!

    Dear Friend,

Green Transportation is a need of the time. Automobiles are common man's most polluting daily activity. Through innovations we can do several things. From materials to mechanisms we can have innovation. For more discussions contact me at cee@iandi.in. www.iandi.in. www.connectionz.biz

What Afsal has mentioned makes a lot of sense. For green concept to be integrated or even maybe to be considered into transportation really need some time. We human are so used to our usual tools and lifestyle that we do not want to turn a look at other options. Even if we want, we will want to weigh the effort needed before considering to take the first step. What can we do about this mindset issue? Anyone has any practical guidance?

Innovation is indeed an important step in all development. I would want to hear from everyone including Afsal what are the innovations you have thought of and any good practical implementation have you come across. Please share your experience.

I feel that solar power is going to play a big role in all of this.

Recently designers have come up with new algorithms to draw maximum power from a solar cell. The one that I've been looking into is Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) it's pretty interesting basically the controller presents itself as an Ideal load drawing the maximum output power from the cell. The difficulty lies in that the output isn't particularly well regulated here is where I think SMPS topologies such as SEPICs, ZETAs, Cuk, and Buck-Boost converters are going to shine since they can output a constant voltage(current) irrespective of the input voltage(current) being higher or lower than the output.

If we couple that advance with solar tracking mechanisms then Solar Power starts to become more attractive. I hope that research continues to improve the efficiency of solar cells so as to make them a viable solution for meeting our energy demands.

    My 2 cents,

    Jorge Garcia

Thank Jorge for being brave to give your informative answer. Indeed solar is going to be helpful to green transportation. No doubt on it. Do you have more information on this to share with everyone? What are ppl doing in regards to this?

I personally find this statement interersting "The difficulty lies in that the output isn't particularly well regulated here is where I think SMPS topologies such as SEPICs, ZETAs, Cuk, and Buck-Boost converters are going to shine since they can output a constant voltage(current) irrespective of the input voltage(current) being higher or lower than the output." Are you speaking about a single power converter that can perform MPPT and to regulate the output voltage as well? Please share more with us on this.

Anyone out there wanna share his/her experience?
