Colin Furze is poised to go down in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest man…..on a mobility shopping scooter. Fruze, a stuntman and film maker from Stamford, England, has converted the scooter to use a 125cc engine from a motorbike instead of the original electric motor. He tried to use the electric motor but could only achieve a speed of 30mph and the batteries died on him rather quickly so his only option was to incorporate a gas engine to gain the speed of 70mph he needs to get into the record book. Guinness told Mr. Furze that he could use the gasoline engine, but could not modify the appearance of the scooter, which incidentally has a normal top speed of 8mph. Colin will attempt his record setting speed trial at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire in the near future. Colin says that this time “I will be wearing full leathers and a crash helmet for the record attempt.”
