Raspberry Pi Car PC

I recently purchased two raspberry pi's and I wanted to have one to play with in my home and one to run a basic in car pc.

I've loaded a media center os (the name of the os has slipped my mind) and now I'm trying to figure what else I'm going to need to get this to work.  I currently have a portable hard drive that I have hooked up to my Pioneer deck but it's a pain to sort through all of my music usig the single din deck.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of LCD I can use with the pi.  I need a raw screen that I can mold into my dash  for a built in effect.  Also, does anyone know of any power source that I could use that would help with shutting down the pi when I turn off my car?

I have been building car pc for ages now and i'm now using an android board, the original PC board was atom based and i have a pico power supply that connects to ignition and continuous power.

It fitted into the motherboard socket and allowed for starter motor surge also.

That had 5v as well as 12v connections, but maybe they have similar for Arm devices too.

Or you could use the Pi to power up car and starter like my sons electric car does, use your remote to start computer and open door, put in your pin for safety and add start button for ignition.

I stripped out a 10.1" laptop display, from an old laptop with a slow processor and got lcd driver board and usb touch screen cheap from china.

Connects to HDMI on my board, same as Pi

Looks a bit late for "maddtechwf" but food for thought for any other car computer nuts, i have a few old monitors no longer working that now have same method to rescue them and a 15" or 17" work great in a car too.

Reversing camera is great on large screen, only wish i could program the predictive lines when the steering wheel is turned like the Nisan Leaf's screen does.
