element14 is sponsoring the aUToronto team from the University of Toronto as they compete with nine other teams building a Level 4 autonomous vehicle in the second iteration of the SAE/GM AutoDrive Challenge.
AUToronto is no stranger to AutoDrive; the student-led team took first place in AutoDrive I, successfully converting a Chevrolet Bolt into a self-driving car. With AutoDrive II, the the university teams must develop an autonomous vehicle that can handle an urban driving course, avoiding pedestrians and other distractions, while following traffic lights and street signs.
