IEEE and the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to perform and promote regional and international standardization collaboratively. Working together, the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) and KSAE aim to encourage global communication, promote shared knowledge, and facilitate liaisons between technical groups.
While the MOU is open to multiple activities, the initial focus will be vehicular technologies and smart grid standards.
Under the terms of the MOU, each organization will freely exchange a variety of information, including details on specific standards development activities in areas of mutual interest, as well as resources such as members newsletters.
The IEEE Standards Association, a globally recognized standards-setting body within IEEE, develops consensus standards through an open process that engages industry and brings together a broad stakeholder community. The IEEE-SA has a portfolio of more than 900 active standards and more than 500 standards under development.
