Design Challenges
Motorcycle manufacturers will be moving from mechanically controlled to electronically controlled systems to meet stricter emissions regulations. The challenge will be about staying cost-effective during this transition versus carburetor design while also satisfying the space constraints of the embedded ECU.

Freescale's product portfolio includes a scalable MCU product line with an integrated companion IC (U-Chip) that control and optimize the injection cycle. The MC33812 combined with our S12P or S12G MCU and offer high-quality, cost-effective solutions for the requirements of evolving automotive quality standards, motorcycle and small engine control. Future chip development will integrate MCU and U-chip in the same package (system in package solution).
Real World Examples
Demonstrations with associated OEMs integrate our starter kit based on MC33812 + S12P MCU. Customer applications will be showcased during the Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) and Designing with Freescale (DwF) seminar series.
