Mothive is a Precision Agriculture company with a specialism in developing autonomous IoT devices and machine-learning algorithms to reduce risk and support intelligent decision making in agriculture. They joined Startupbootcamp IoT to continue development of their novel prediction models, which provide information which farmers can use to support high value crops of berries and grapes by reducing operational costs and preventing the spread of common diseases.
The journey so far...
During their time at Startupbootcamp IoT, the Mothive team have been working closely with the program mentors and in workshops with key partners such as Growth Studio, who have helped them to interrogate every aspect of their business model for strengths and potential weaknesses.
"We've learned that we need to be very particular and specific about our developed product" explains co-founder Angelo Monteiro. "We weren't quite there before joining the program, but now I think we're spot on."
One key focus area in terms of the technology has been developing the cloud infrastructure, which houses the data that Mothive's agricultural sensor solutions collect. By predicting diseases and environmental threats, this model will allow the end-user to manage their crops more efficiently and effectively.
Looking ahead...
As the Startupbootcamp IoT enters its final weeks, Angelo and his team are working round the clock to prepare a compelling slide deck to present at the upcoming demo day, where they hope to attract the attention of some investors. They have the benefit of having already overcome many important challenges with their solution, which has been running on commercial sites for several months.
"We're a small team and sometimes it's difficult to get in front of the customer" says Angelo. "We really want to deliver a great pitch to the audience and hopefully investment will follow."
We'll be continuing to check in with Mothive and the other Startupbootcamp participants over the coming weeks, so keep checking this space for more updates. You can also learn more about Mothive on their official website and on the Startupbootcamp website
