For the second year in a row, Farnell element14 is proud to be an official partner of Startupbootcamp IoT, an intensive three-month acceleration program for tech-based startups. We recently traveled to Startupbootcamp IoT's London headquarters to meet the participating startups for the 2017 cohort.
Introducing Sonodot
Sonodot co-founders Niccolò Corsini and Andrei Hirjanu first met as research fellows at Imperial College London, where they were united by a shared passion for robotics. After observing that the technology used for tracking robots was both prohibitively expensive and difficult to use for many business owners. they hit on the idea of developing an affordable, easy to scale technology for monitoring mobile assets in real time via high-performance plug 'n' play indoor tracking technology.
The solution is composed of a self-calibrating sensor that can be attached to the walls or ceilings of a warehouse, allowing the user to track objects such as forklifts at the push of a button. The data is fed to a server, where it is analysed in real time and then delivered to a web app which can be used to monitor key information such as performance updates and safety alerts.
The combination of high accuracy, low cost and ease of use is what CEO Nicolo Corsini believes will set his product apart on the market. They are also developing new predictive capabilities to provide added insights to the user based on the data the device captures.
Joining Startupbootcamp IoT...
The Sonodot team are hoping to use their time on the Startupbootcamp IoT program to accelerate their development and learn as much as possible from the mentors and their fellow participants.
"The opportunity to talk to a broad spectrum of experts from different backgrounds has been really valuable" explains Nicolo. "It made us aware of a few blind spots that we had around our go-to-market strategy and our business model. By the end of the program we're hoping to validate the demand for our solution, get some successful case studies and attract some initial paying customers."
"We're most looking forward not only to the one-to-one sessions with the mentors, but also to interacting with the other startups on the program. We feel we have a lot to learn from them as well..."
We'll be continuing to check in with Sonodot and the other Startupbootcamp participants over the coming weeks, so keep checking this space for more updates. You can also learn more about Sonodot on their official website and on the Startupbootcamp website.
