After three months of intensive preparation, the nine startups participating in Startupbootcamp IoT 2018 finally had the opportunity to pitch their businesses in the event that the entire accelerator program has been building towards - Demo Day!

Over 300 specially invited journalists, investors, partners and potential customers gathered at the Science Museum in London to hear the entrepreneurs deliver their presentations - showcasing the innovative qualities of their products and demonstrating the progress they've made since joining the program.

After making their presentations, the startups also set up dedicated stalls where they could speak to attendees one-on-one and showcase their products up close.

As an official partner of the Startupbootcamp IoT program, Premier Farnell was on hand to capture the emotions and excitement of the day, and to catch up with the startup leaders immediately following their presentations.

"I think we had an amazing Demo Day today" enthused Raph Crouan, founder and CEO of Startupbootcamp. "It's been extremely interesting to see the progress of the teams over the past three to four months. The fact that we're able to be here in an iconic location like the Science Museum really shows how much we've grown since we first launched the Startupbootcamp IoT program in 2016."

"Startupbootcamp IoT would not be here if it wasn't for our corporate partners, and Premier Farnell has been at the core of that engagement from day one" he continued. "It's been extremely satisfying to explore how we could work together hand in hand, particularly this year with all the B2B and industrial IoT systems on the program this year. I'm looking forward to what we do next year..."

The nine startups who participated in Startupbootcamp IoT and presented at Demo Day are:

  • HUDlog - Innovative head-up display for commercial drivers
  • Internet of Trees - Sensor-based forest monitoring to detect fires and illegal logging
  • Mothive - Helping high value fruit and veg farmers to reduce crop waste and maximise yield
  • Odyssey Sensors - Affordable, reliable and user-friendly sensor technology to support smallholder farmers
  • Sonodot - Optimising material handling operations with real-time tracking of high value assets
  • Squad Robotics - Asset performance monitoring and equipment automation for industrial floor cleaning products
  • StoryBot - Screen-free gaming device to promote physical and social activity for children
  • ThingBlox - Plug and play hardware modules to allow IoT devices to communicate more securely
  • unifi.id - Using RFID technology to provide insight and control to building managers

You can find out more about all of the startups and their experiences on the Startupbootcamp IoT program by exploring the many interviews and progress reports we've posted in this space. Applications for the next cohort of the Startupbootcamp IoT program are expected to open in April 2018. Stay tuned to this space for more information, or visit the official Startupbootcamp website.

It seemed like everyone was happy with the experience.  Hard to ask for more than that.
